According to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Abuja Light Rail is now prepared for business use. While examining the project on Monday, May 20, Wike made this revelation. He added that the rehabilitation project cost $15 million, which is equivalent to almost N10 billion. President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to officially open the light rail, popularly referred to as the Abuja Metro Line, for business on May 27.

The Minister also pointed out amenities that were left out of the project's design, like air conditioning in the elevator and passenger waiting area. Nonetheless, this would improve passenger comfort rather than preventing the metro line from operating fully. "We are happy, very happy, and we thank God that President Tinubu's promise has been kept," he declared.Because Mr. President has provided us with all the backing we need, we are succeeding. This would not be the case now, assuming we are not receiving his backing. We are content with the undertaking. All we've done is point out one or two aspects that were left out of the design.
