The wealthiest entrepreneur in Africa, Aliko Dangote, has bemoaned the challenges encountered by African businesspeople visiting the region, asserting that his Nigerian passport requires 35 distinct visas. At the Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit in Kigali, Rwanda, Dangote just revealed this. "I continued to talk about this issue with President Kagame. He said, "I told him that I really don't have the time to go and be dropping my passports in embassies to get a visa. As an investor, I now have to apply for 35 different visas on my passport." "However, what irritates me the most is that, yes, I can understand if you treat everyone equally."
Patrick Pouyanne, the head of Total Energies, does not require 35 visas on his French passport in order to enter African nations, according to Dangote, who used the French passport as an example. "Your French passport does not require thirty-five visas. This indicates that you are more mobile in Africa than I am," he remarked. He responded, "Our main job is to make sure the regional markets all work," when asked how to facilitate economic transactions inside Africa. We can now go on to the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) once they are operational. However, we also need to ensure that the AfCFTA functions. Our intra-trade rate is below 16 percent, and we do not have a very promising continent.
