The Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Mathew Adepoju, disclosed this during a press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday, June 19.

According to Adepoju, Nigeria and the Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support this large-scale project. He emphasized that this partnership places Nigeria among nations actively involved in human spaceflight, marking a significant turning point in the country's 25 years of space exploration. He emphasized how this initiative has the potential to advance technology and spark young people in Nigeria's interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields.

The Director General restated NASRDA's resolve to use space technology to boost competitiveness internationally and advance national development.

“This initiative opens up new avenues for scientific research and technological advancement,” Dr. Adepoju remarked.

He promised that the project would be professionally carried out, according to strict safety regulations and utilizing global best practices and knowledge.
