Student loans are only available to applicants from federal universities – FG
According to Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), during the student loan program's initial phase, up to 1.2 million students from federal postsecondary institutions will be eligible. Speaking to media prior to the official opening of the loan portal for applications on Friday, May 24, Sawyerr stated that the only applicants for the first phase will be students enrolled in federal postsecondary institutions whose institutions have completed uploading their data. He further mentioned that all eligible students attending federal postsecondary institutions now have easy access to the streamlined loan application process.
